trust and obey

I've been thinking about my goals for 2011 and have come to the conclusion that they will simply be:

To trust and obey...the Lord.

The old hymn sums it up pretty well:

When we walk with the Lord
In the light of His Word
What glory He sheds on our way
While we do His good will
He abides with us still,
And with all who will trust and obey.

chorus:
Trust and obey,
For there's no other way
To be happy in Jesus,
But to trust and obey.

Not a shadow can rise,
Not a cloud in the skies,
But His smile quickly drives it away;
Not a doubt nor a fear,
Not a sigh nor a tear,
Can abide while we trust and obey.
(chorus)

But we never can prove
The delights of His love
Until all on the altar we lay;
For the favor He shows,
And the joy He bestows,
Are for them who will trust and obey.
(chorus)

Then in fellowship sweet
We will sit at His feet,
Or we'll walk by His side in the way;
What He says we will do,
Where He sends we will go,
Never fear only trust and obey.
(chorus)

What are your goals for 2011?

  1. Dear Lynda, Love reading your blog. I wish you 'Een Zalig Nieuw Jaar'(thats Dutch).

    Hmmm... my goals for the new year?
    1. Take longer walks with my dog. Even when its cold en wet outside and I want to snugle up beside the central heating (pretending it is een open fire) with a good book and a pot of coffee.
    2. Spend much more time in my little garden behind the church. My job as a teacher demanded to much of my time and energy last year. And a neglected garden (or a neglected dog) are so sad :)
    3. And last but not least. Get up earlier and start with a healthy breakfast. Why.... As a secular Carmelite I pray the Liturgy of the hours but as a slow starter I am terrible grumpy in the morning. Not the right mood to spend time with the Love of your Life. And the remedy is so easy... Only some fresh fruit juice, a bowl of muesli and a good cup of coffee.

  2. Hello Vera :o)

    So are you dutch? Do you live in Holland?

    I'm glad you enjoy my blog. Sometimes it's hard to think of things to write, but I'm glad at least someone is reading it :o)

    I am the opposite to you. I am a morning person, but not so good in the evenings :o(

    Your life sounds interesting...a dog...a little garden behind the church...a teacher...and a secular Carmelite!!

    I am intrigued! Do you have a blog?
